
## About the Museum The Sea Harrier Museum is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the **Indian Navy's Sea Harrier jet fighter**. The decommissioned aircraft, retired in **2016**, was transferred from Goa and installed in a purpose-built museum hall on RK Beach. ## The Sea Harrier The British Aerospace Sea Harrier is a naval vertical/short takeoff and landing (V/STOL) jet fighter. It served the Indian Navy for decades, playing a crucial role in maritime defense operations. ## Museum Features The museum was built by the **Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA)** at a cost of approximately **₹10 crore** as part of the Integrated Museum and Tourism Complex. ### Key Exhibits - **Suspended Sea Harrier jet** - displayed in flight position for an immersive experience - **Pegasus engines** - the iconic powerplant that enabled vertical takeoff - **Flight simulator** - interactive experience for visitors - **Aircraft spare parts and components** - detailed engineering displays - **Historical artifacts and visual exhibits** ## Part of Maritime Heritage Corridor The Sea Harrier Museum is strategically located alongside other naval attractions: - **TU-142 Aircraft Museum** (nearby) - **INS Kursura Submarine Museum** (nearby) Together, these create Visakhapatnam's famous **defense and maritime themed tourist stretch** on Beach Road.
